Doors of Quebec City

Doors are an interesting part of social evolution.  Prior to the mass production of doors they were all made by hand in local shops.  They were made to order and architects often left large openings for elaborate doorways.  Even on a simple opening, the doors have uniqueness to them not found in contemporary structures.

The character of the doors is what compelled me to take them, but keeping their place in history in mind they provide a commentary on how civilization has evolved.  Corporate mass production has replaced the craftsman with a template.  The fact that these doors are unique demonstrates how our perception of doors is consumerized, but also by extension a metaphor to the changing aesthetics driven by the mass market.
