Crossing Borders
Crossing Borders was an international project exhibited in Toronto and Chicago.
The project was accompanied by an exhibition catalogue.
The Project addressed issues around living in Canada with Lithuanian Culture. Identifying with more than one set of cultural values, traditions, and norms is often challenging since they can often be a source of conflict. Stemming from similar challenges, this group represents the artistic developments of a unique minority group within a Canadian cultural landscape.
Post war immigrant arrivals were split between Canada and the United States. The traveling component of this project was to build knowledge between these two very similar communities and to draw attention to what being Canadian is about.
The Project was organized by the Lithuanian Canadian Artists Association (LCAA), the Lithuanian Museum and Archives of Canada in Mississauga and the Cirlionio Galereja in Chicago.
Funding came from numerous corporate and private donors.
